#News #Cameroon | Wizkid features Jovi on new record!
In a recent conversation with Cameroonian rapper/producer/songwriter Ndukong Godlove aka Jovi Lemonstre, we heard about a collaboration between the rapper and Wizkid on one of the Nigerian artist's records. No report on what the song is about or how it will be released, but Jovi and Wizkid were brought together musically thanks to Konvict Musik’s Senior Vice President of A&R Fotemah Mba, who Jovi calls a "really good friend". Jovi also revealed that he collaborated with more international acts.
On whether he will release an album soon, the artist said that an EP would be dropped later. For now, Lemonstre is filling in as a producer for New Bell music act Reniss' upcoming opus, which he said will be a collection of exquisite sounds.
On what he is listening to right now, Lemonstre shared that his favorite records of the moment include Wizkid's "Jaye Jaye", Kanye's Yeesus album and Reniss' music.
About his latest track Mukwatta, Jovi said it's about people missing the point. He expressed his commitment to elevating Cameroonian urban music although many question his true motives.

#Interview #Zambia | Roberto talks Music, Radio and challenges
Roberto is an award winning Zambian star who has shared stage with the finest in the music industry, including Grammy winning rapper EVE. The singer songwriter and producer, who is based in Lusaka - Zambia, now also has a radio show as he juggles with his music. He is also part of the duo called UZ47 with Ugandan artist Allan Toniks. With UZ47's hit single “Swag Meter” that topped Charts in East and Southern Africa, Afroziky’s Kamie Jimmie King had a chat with the artist about his experiences and his most recent release.
Afroziky: Who is Roberto?
Roberto is a Zambian R&B artist, song writer, producer, radio presenter and Record Company Executive, but above all a God fearing ambitious gentleman.
Is Zambia your stage name too?
No, Zambia is just my social media last name to make it easy for people to recognize me from the many ROBERTOS online and in the music industry worldwide.
Tell us about your music foundation?
Well my music really dates back to my childhood days, growing up in a family that took everything in music seriously, I fell in love with music at a tender and it has been a soul companion since.
Which radio station do you work at and how do you juggle music & radio?
Oh yes I do, it is crazy juggling radio and music and lately school has come into play so it’s even crazier now, but I have learnt to divide my time and be strict on how I spend my time. I work for radio Qfm in Zambia as a Drive-time host.
How do you handle the pressure on the continent because honestly, today with digital music promotion, everyone wants to blow up on the African music scene?
Yes it's true the continent is buzzing with great talent, and I see the music industry in Africa like trading at a town centre. So many stores but all trading in the same items, however if you just have one store why have a town centre. I know I will bring a lot of energy and a new look to the music industry in Africa.
Any latest songs this year?
Wow!! This year is a ROBERTO Year, I have a new song for 2013 called EPONABA. The song is in three languages Nyanja, Bemba and some English on the bridge. It's my 2nd 2013 release and I will have many other great tracks coming out this year, so yeah be on the lookout.
Tell us more about the new songs.
Regarding the song EPONABA, it is a reminder to women that they must remember the men that help them ensure that they look great. At times a woman would revive a compliment because they look good but forget to say it’s my husband or boyfriend who bought this for me, so it's a bit of a comical song. The other songs are about love, hurt, appreciation of our outcries and the African continent.
What kind of music is in your iPod now?
If you browsed through my music library you will find lots of Afrobeat, Bruno Mars, Rihanna, Mariah, RL of next, General Ozzy and Tamar Braxton.
What is your relationship with other Zambian & African artists?
I would describe it as fruitful, I learn a lot from other artists here and we share a lot of similar ideas so it’s easy to relate with the many artists we have in our industry.
Any challenges you have found in the industry?
Oh yes... many! In any business, it's never easy to place your footing anywhere. I have faced several challenges local and internationally. Some are quite demotivating but you always have to remind yourself that standout from the rest you have to always be on your feet to progress.
Any Last word to your fans?
Am truly grateful and so humbled by my ever growing fan base across the globe, and as I embark on my African tour in a few months I hope to deliver nothing but the best, and build a stronger bond with the people that love and treasure my music.

#Video #Senegal | Viviane Chidid releases new version of 'Fans Yi' + New Video
Queen of Mbalax Viviane Chidid just released an acoustic version of her latest song 'Fans Yi'. She got rid of the uptempo beat and let us enjoy her vocal ability better. Plus, the video of the new track, shot in New York City, shows the Senegalese star following green, yellow and red yarns throughout the city. This is a nice touch as the yarns symbolize her origins and the fact that no matter where she is, she will always find her way to Senegal and her fans! Also, Raekwon from the Wu Tang Clan makes a cameo appearance.

#Senegal #Fashion | two months after Blackface scandal, Vogue Netherlands puts first black model on Cover
It was in May 2013 that Vogue Netherlands came under fire for showcasing a "blackfaced" white model in their spread. The editorial called "Heritage Heroes" had Dutch Model Querelle Jansen wearing dark make-up on her face and textured afro-wigs. The piece celebrated Mark Jacobs' ethnic inspirations through a flash back to black icons' styles including Grace Jones and Josephine Baker. The only problem was the fact that the model wasn't BLACK and this didn't seat well with most people.
However, on the July 2013 issue, Vogue Netherlands seems to have redeemed itself by putting, for the first time in the history of the magazine, a black model on the cover. Cover girl Kinee Diouf, originally from Senegal, shined in Afrocentric shots, wearing colorful pieces and animal prints for the "Neon Oase" editorial. If this were an apology to the previous blackface nonsense, apology accepted! And of course we are always proud when Africans make fashion history! Check out more pictures of Diouf below.

Ecoutez!
#Freedownload #Zambia | Zone Fam drop 2 new singles, Lobola + Propeller
I have been hooked on the track "Lobola" since I received it, I am mostly amazed by the mind-blowing blend of sounds. The song is basically a dance track, then you got some Azonto beats, plus a hip hop vibe. The Zambian boys of Zone Fam have most definitely outdone themselves on this one. Their lyrical flow does not cheat this superbly versatile instrumental either. Props shall also be given to Lusaka based Producer/Singer Shom-C. Listen!
The song "Propeller" also has some great parts and a lot of versatility. This one is produced by Zone Fam member Jay Rox. Check it out!
LOL!
Vos réactions sont les bienvenues!
#FreeDownload #Cameroon | 'The Apple' or the most Tribal Pop sound ft Reniss & Jovi
Master of slick beats and New Bell Music front-man Jovi Lemonstre teamed up with Camer pop newbie Reniss to debut the label’s craft through the release of the song “The Apple”. On this ferociously hot joint, the Cameroonian roots were intelligently scratched and stirred in a contemporary and electronic potage, producing a homogeneous dance track. Plus, songstress Reniss shows off her vocal force and dialectal savviness as she powers out some awesome verses in Makon, her mother tongue, added to shades of pidgin and English. In the middle of the song, Jovi swings by and drops 16 raw bars of life lessons. The Apple is what we shall call tribal-pop and hashtag Awesome!

#Nigeria #Video | Davido drops one of a kind music video
Nigeria star Davido best known lately as the phenomenal "Omo Baba Olowo" drops another hit banger video titled for the track ONE OF A KIND. This video preaches oneness illustrating a united Africa. A musical video with so much theatrical aesthetics that it can only be described as “One Of A Kind". Filmed in South Africa; producer by legendary GodFather and directed by Tebza, the song is more like a continental anthem and mostly dedicated to the beautiful people of Africa. It is an Afropop cocktail with sprinkles of Azonto music and South African rythms. It brings out “A king David” like feel outside his castle with beautiful women from all over Africa. The video features super models like Mamisi who represented Malawi and many others.
#Somalia #Interview | Faarrow talk music making and being positive role models for Somalia
Faarrow (@faarrow) is made of Siham and Iman, 2 hip sisters who have an insatiable appetite for pop music with more than a dash of Afro-centrism. As the girls enjoy the positive feedback received from their colorful just-dropped single "Rule The World", they are also concocting more awesome stuff in music and even fashion, to be unveiled sooner than you think. Until then, Faarrow offers us some girls talk about Somalia, being positive role models and the music making process. Read below!
Afroziky: What is so cool about Somalia?
Siham: We have amazing food and a rich culture. I don't know if "cool" is really the right word to describe Somalia in the present day but we're a part of a new generation that aims to bring a positive change.
Iman: With that said, even post war Somalia is still really beautiful.
Do you have family there still?
Iman: Yea, we have a lot of family still in Somalia, aunts, uncles, cousins.
Do you feel pressure to be positive role models for other Somalis and refugees?
Siham: I wouldn't call it pressure. It's more of an obligation. Although everyone's interpretation of a "good role model" is different, we just strive to do everything with purpose and a sincere heart. Our driving force is Somalia and that will never change.
What message do you send to Somalia through your music?
Iman: We have a song called "Never Forgotten" talking about us never forgetting the people we left back home and that we will always be a voice for them. Whether it's a song we are specifically talking about Somalia or not, the overall theme is just doing what you want to do and not waiting around to make a change in your own life or the world.
Though you can be seen as pop artists, you expose your audience to a diversity of musical styles. Does it have to do with your cultural background?
Siham: For sure! We always try to add undertones of Africa in our music. That's why we refer to it as 'World Pop'!
As sisters, how does the music making process work?
Siham: We just bounce ideas off of each other. We know each other's voices and who sounds better in certain parts of a song. It's not about ego or getting more parts, it's all about who's better for it. That's when being sisters becomes an asset lol we can't quit on each other even if we get mad.
Tell me a little bit about your most recent release "Rule the World!"
Iman: For "Rule The World," it all came together so organically. We worked on 90% of our upcoming E.P with Elijah Kelley who also Produced and co wrote "Rule The World". We wanted something that was fresh and a fusion of all of our influences.
What is the next step?
Siham: We're releasing our 'FAARROW' E.P really soon and shooting more videos. Different opportunities are coming our way everyday and it's really been amazing. We have upcoming collabs in fashion and music that you will see soon. So stay tuned on www.faarrow.com!

#Lyrics #Nigeria | 2face ft T Pain - Rainbow Remix
Tuface
T Pain
Let’s go
Ever since I left you
I’ve been to hell and I’m back
Now my baby I
I wanna give you all my body and soul
Now I want to
Give to you
The keys to all that I’ve got
Girl you’re my star
You are my rainbow
Cos now I don’t see rainbows everywhere I go
It never used to be so
Oh now my heart is cold
Now there’s a big cloud hovering over my soul
And I wanna shout
Don’t wanna be on you no more
Ever since I left you girl
It’s like I fell off
Now I can’t get back online since I logged off
Now I’m feeling all alone
I don’t feel free no more
I’m a prisoner for you like I’m in handcuff
Now I wonder what I was thinking when I took off
Now I realise that your lips and body so soft
Girl I’m not too proud to beg
I will kneel and kiss your leg cos I’m fed up
Ever since I left you
I’ve been to hell and I’m back
Now my baby I
I wanna give you all my body and soul
In fact, I want to give you
The keys to all that I’ve got
Girl you’re my star (T Pain)
You are my rainbow
Heyy!
You got away and I can’t get you back
It’s my fault I can’t lie about that
And I’m searching for you all over the sky
No let it rain or sunshine
I can’t wait to make you mine
Girl, and this time I won’t let you outta my sight
I’ve been looking to the left to the right to the front to the back and everywhere I go
I always think I see my rainbow
And you are never anywhere to be found
I’m not trying to stress you
No I’m not the best dude
Without you I’m a mess boo
I got nothing left
So I must confess
Hey!
Hey!
Chineke me
Girl I’m down on my knees
Accept my apologies
E no easy
Now I realise
It should be you and I
You and I
Ever since I left you girl
Ever since I left you
Left you girl
See ever since I left you girl
The keys (keys)
Take it take it take it take it take it eyyy
Ever since I left you
You are my rainbow
I’ve been through hell and I’m back
You are my rainbow
You are my rainbow
In fact I want to give to you
The keys to all that I’ve got
You are my rainbow
Ever since I left you
I’ve been through hell and I’m back
Now my baby I
I wanna give you all my body and soul
In fact I want to give you
The keys to all that I’ve got
Girl you’re my star
You are my rainbow

#TV #Nigeria | Real Housewives of Lagos?
Picture: Kenya Moore & Stacie TurnerOnly weeks after the African adaptation of America Next Top Model is launched, it is time for the Real Housewives franchise to go to the Motherland. Rumors have that NBCUniversal is thinking of bringing Bravo TV's Real Housewives to Nigeria for a show to be titled the Real Housewives of Lagos. Linda Ikeji's blog reports that the show will follow the lives of 5 – 8 rich women between 30 and 50, and of course the marital status won't really matter.
The producers could be even more creative and fly their most Nigerian American Housewives to Lagos so they can interact with the African cast. Atlanta's Kenya Moore will definitely bring the heat for being a fabulous twirling goddess and dating a
Do I think the Real Housewives of Lagos is a great concept? Not at all! When you watch what goes down among the American cast, it is totally mind-blowing to learn that African women would want to degrade themselves while cat fighting, gossiping and being drama queens in front of the camera. Of course this is not the message that will be advertised but we all know that at the end, this is what the producers are looking for, because people watch the show for the drama. Drama is juicy!
Would I watch the show? Of course! Like I said drama is juicy! I am pretty sure it will be entertaining!
What about you, will You Watch The Real Housewives of Lagos?

#Music #Nigeria | J Martins gets DJ Arafat on new track 'Touchin Body'
Nigerian singer J Martins adds DJ Arafat to his African collaborations list with the spanky new track "Touchin Body." Nigeria meets Cote d'Ivoire on this festive song, which has a bit of African flavor and a bit of modern music. The most surprising element would probably be the "Papa l'americano" drop, borrowed from Yolanda Be Cool & DCUP's "We No Speak Americano." Check out the song below!
